When you’re visiting a new place for the first time it helps to get tips from a local. Our park staff at Reflections Urunga are all well-versed on what to do whilst holidaying on the NSW Coffs Coast. Here are their ‘must-dos’ when visiting this lovely part of the mid-north coast.
According to our Urunga team, Bellingen is a not-to-be-missed destination for out-of-towners. This charming town on the banks of the Bellinger River is just 15 minutes from Urunga and is famous for its rich architectural heritage, green rolling hills, natural attractions and quirky cafes.
Walk through the lush rainforest of Dorrigo National Park and make your way to the beautifully-named Crystal Shower Falls. You can even walk behind the waterfall! Or head to Dangar Falls, a stunning 30 metre waterfall just 2km from the centre of Dorrigo.
There’s plenty in store at the Old Butter Factory Shopping Village in Bellingen. Browse the specialty shops, with wares ranging from jewellery and leather to homewares and gifts. Marvel at the display in the Woodcraft Gallery then enjoy a bite to eat at the Old Butter Factory Café.
Could this be the sweetest spot on the mid-north coast? Learn about the intriguing world of the honey bee at The Honey Place. Sample different honey varieties, see the working bee hive, purchase honey products and enjoy a bite at the on-site café.
Walk amongst hundreds of live butterflies in an indoor subtropical rainforest setting at the Coffs Harbour Butterfly House. Have fun in the outdoor maze, enjoy the homemade food in the Café then grab a butterfly bargain in the gift shop.
What’s a visit to Coffs without a trip to the Big Banana? This place is certainly more than just a giant piece of fruit. There’s mini-golf, ice-skating, a water park, an opal centre, a toboggan and giant slide, specialty tours, cheesemaking workshops, laser tag and more.
A Bellingen icon, this hard-to-miss building is a shopping treasure-trove that’s practically made for a good old-fashioned browse. Books, paintings, woodwork, hats, jewellery, toys, games, candles, lamps and more; there’s something for everyone in the Yellow Shed.
Less than 20 minutes from Urunga Holiday Park is Bongil Bongil National Park. Home to a large population of koalas, this park is famous for its fishing, mountain biking, rainforest walks and its wild and untamed beaches.
Consistently voted as ‘the most beautiful golf course in mainland Australia’ by the Golf Course Guide, the Bonville Golf course is a Par 72 championship course set in lush, green and altogether breathtaking surrounds.
Another Coffs Harbour drawcard, at Dolphin Marine Magic (also known as the Pet Porpoise Pool) visitors can experience up-close encounters with dolphins and seals, hand feed penguins and enjoy presentations and exhibits all about the local marine life.
If roaming the region doesn’t appeal and you’re keen to stay close to home, never fear – our park staff are also experts on all things Urunga. So when you book your stay at Reflections Urunga, rest assured you’ll be in good hands for a holiday to suit you perfectly.
