A holiday at Yamba Lighthouse cottages is an unbeatable nature-lovers' experience, with some of the best views on the Far North NSW coast.
With easy access to world class surf breaks and beautiful beaches, national parks with exciting hikes, an ocean pool worthy of a magazine cover, and wildlife experiences a-plenty, Yamba is the place to be for outdoor adventurers.
Clarence River Lighthouse, or Yamba Lighthouse on Pilot Hill, has been an iconic landmark on the Far North NSW coast for more than 144 years. Originally the light came from a basic kerosene lamp placed on a platform. It then developed into a shack emitting a guiding light, and the permanent lighthouse was built in 1880.
Today, travellers after a truly different getaway, can stay in one of two charming heritage-listed, dog-friendly cottages that are a stone's throw from the lighthouse and the stunning coastline where it stands.
Surrounded by a verdant grassy headland, rugged cliffs towering above gorgeous beaches, the famous Lighthouse in Yamba is just one part of the laidback, bustling town of Yamba, which is perfectly positioned at the mouth of the Clarence River.
Nature lovers are spoilt with outdoor activities in these parts, with dolphins and sea turtles regularly sighted from the many coastal paths boasting jaw-dropping views. During whale-watching season from June to October, a parade of gentle giants put on an impressive show as they cruise down the coast.
Looking for a one-of-a-kind coastal escape? The heritage-listed Pilot Cottages at Yamba Lighthouse have you covered! These spacious, dog-friendly stays come with fenced yards, so your furry friend can run free while you kick back and relax.
Whether it’s ocean breezes or riverside relaxation you’re after, Yamba Lighthouse accommodation is the perfect spot to unwind with family, friends, and your dog!
Your crew might want to just relax, but there are so many things to do in and around Yamba Lighthouse, the world really is your oyster here.
For a swim, dive into the stunning Yamba Ocean Pool, which is another local icon, and the most northern east coast ocean pool. There's also the 25-metre Yamba Community Heated Pool, and Maclean Olympic Swimming Pool complex, which has a toddler's pool and small waterslide.
Yamba is blessed with an abundance of great places to eat and drink, with a couple of standouts being The Kiosk Yamba, a classic seaside café on Yamba's Main Beach dishing up great breakfasts and awesome coffee.
At the Yamba Golf and Country Club you can have a round of golf on the championship course, try your hand at Virtual Golf, and then dine at the lovely, modern Seafire restaurant, complete with views of the golf course.
For more outdoor adventures, families will love Angourie Bay Picnic Area, which is a great place to while away part of your day after a swim or a surf at Angourie Headland.
During whale watching season, take a wander to the two nearby lookouts and you'll be in for a treat courtesy of Mother Nature.
Yuraygir National Park is another must-do for nature lovers. Hikers love the 65-kilometre Yuraygir coastal walk that is NSW's longest stretch of undeveloped coastline, featuring striking cliffs, endless rocky headlands, Insta-worthy isolated beaches, serene lakes, forests, and thriving wetlands.
