How does this sound: endless beautiful beaches, pristine national parks, captivating history and delicious food. Music to your ears? Then you'll want to plan your next escape to Evans Head, a relaxed and under-the-radar hidden gem of a town.
To get the inspiration flowing, here’s a family-friendly 3-day Evans Head itinerary, great for kids but with plenty of options for adults too!
Head to Evans Head Main Beach or Airforce Beach for a morning swim, sandcastle building competition, or beginner surf by the long golden sands and gentle waves. Or for calmer waters, go for a splash on the banks of the Evans River (great for the little ones or less confident swimmers).

When hunger strikes, pick up a flat white at SUNNYBOY and a bacon and egg brekky roll at Wurlitzer Bakery. Or if you fancy posting up with eggs benny and whiling away a few hours, head over to Vespas on Oak.
After lunch, enjoy exploring Dirawong Reserve. It's a place of spiritual significance to the local Traditional Owners of the land and is flush with coastal trails, hidden beaches, and spectacular ocean views.
Take a short stroll from your campsite at Reflections Evans Head for breakfast at the Riverfront Kiosk. After you've enjoyed the river views, make your way to the Evans Head Heritage Aviation Museum where the kids can check out the aircraft displays and interactive exhibits (including stepping into planes).
Lace up your walking shoes and pack a picnic to take to Broadwater National Park. There are birds to spot and trails to hike, plus swamps and marshlands to discover. Keep your eyes peeled for local critters too, like red-necked wallabies, bandicoots, echidnas and ringtail possums!
As the sun sets, head over to Razorback Lookout for big ocean panoramas and great photo ops to post on socials. And for a unique fusion food, have dinner at Japxican back in town.

Get out on the open water to try and catch your dinner on a fishing charter, like Evans Head Fishing Charters. Or if that's too adventurous, you could rent kayaks or SUPs to paddle Jerusalem Creek's calm river bends. For lunch, grab fresh fish and chips from Chippa Evans Head and unroll the picnic rug at Cribb Reserve, overlooking the water.
Then afterwards, if you're game, take a scenic drive to the nearby New Italy Mountain Bike Forest for a forest walk or bike ride (great for older kids/teens).
Satisfy your sweet tooth as your amazing Evans Head itinerary comes to a close. Treat yourself to a stacked ice cream at Muzza's Milk Bar on your way to the beach.
