Camping in Nambucca Heads: Your coastal haven is calling

Nambucca Heads is on the lands of the Gumbaynggirr people, and its name comes from their word for 'entrance to waters', as this laidback seaside town sits at the mouth of the beautiful Nambucca River.

Reflections Nambucca Heads couldn’t have a better spot, perched right above the town’s Main Beach and surrounded by lush bushland. It's on a gorgeous slice of the Coffs Coast, only a forty-minute drive from busy Coffs Harbour.

Camping in Nambucca Heads offers travellers jaw-dropping views from a grass- and scrub-covered covered headland, with sparkling turquoise waters, rich green patches of rainforest and white-sanded beaches fanning out in every direction.

Nambucca Heads is the perfect base for adventures. Think whale-watching, surfing, swimming, kayaking, or giving stand-up paddleboarding a crack. When you’re ready to take it easy, the town’s brimming with cool cafés and friendly, laid-back spots to grab a drink or a meal – all with those easy-going beachy vibes.

Accommodation options at Reflections Nambucca Heads

Camping in Nambucca Heads is a dog-friendly affair, so bring your furry friend and they can be a part of your sunny seaside getaway. For every booking, guests can have two dogs, and all sites accommodate up to six (human) guests.

There are campsites to suit every kind of rig – big or small – and all spots are blessed with soul-soothing ocean breezes and birdsong.

At Reflections Nambucca Heads, the powered slab sites are perfect for those who want a hassle-free set-up on even ground, and are ideal for caravans, motorhomes, campers and campervans. It's also handy having power for all those devices and mod-cons. With ten single and double slabs on the western edge of the park – all conveniently close to amenities, all with water and sullage for greywater, these campsites can fit caravans up to six metres, including the drawbar.

For those wanting access to power but seeking a more back-to-nature feel, the powered grass and mat campsites are awesome for all set-ups setups including tents, camper trailers, campervans, or caravans, and these sites can fit rigs up to eight metres, including the drawbar. Grab one of these if you have a big set-up or want more space around you – there are sixteen of them, mainly located on the western side of the park, and all of them have water and sullage.

For those who prefer to holiday off-grid, the park offers standard unpowered slab sites with lovely bush outlooks, conveniently close to the camp kitchen. These aren't suitable for caravans, so if that's home on wheels, book a grassy unpowered site, or one of the powered sites.

The unpowered grassy sites are great for all set-ups up to six metres (including the drawbar) – whether you have a caravan, camper, trailer or campervan. These are shady, dog-friendly and on the central and western side of the park.

All sites also have access to communal facilities such as two amenities blocks, BBQs, a camp kitchen, dog wash, laundry and dump point. There are even kid's school activities to keep little ones busy while parents can chill out.

Park facilities and amenities while camping in Nambucca Heads

Reflections Nambucca Heads is a peaceful waterfront caravan park with an abundance of greenery. To make your camping holiday as enjoyable as possible, ample facilities means you rarely have to wait for access to the amenities, BBQs or camp kitchen.

The wooden beamed tin roof and large windows in the rustic camp kitchen means it's flooded with natural light, and the surrounding greenery that attracts the native birds make it a relaxing place to prepare and eat meals. It's right in the centre of the park and has a fridge, hot plate, sink, kettle, toaster and BBQ.

If you prefer to be more in sync with nature, there's a large under-cover gravelled BBQ area with plenty of seating that's surrounded by grassy lawns and towering gum trees.

There are also smaller BBQ areas with park benches, and there's a boat ramp two kilometres from the park, so if you catch a fish, bring it back and throw it on the barbecue.

For swimming, kayaking and simply enjoying the waterways that Nambucca Heads is famous for, the river and its beach are two kilometres away, Main Beach is a one-minute walk, and for speed seekers, there's a mountain bike trail only a short cycle from the park.

If your furry friends get dirty from all of the beach and bush action, there's a handy dog wash in the park. And if you're staying longer than a few days, use the spacious laundry to get some washing done. No coins are needed – simply tap and go, then hang clothes out to dry in the ocean breeze.

South Beach, which is on the opposite side of the Nambucca River, is a top spot for fishing for tailor, jewfish, salmon and the odd snapper. The whiting congregate closer to the river mouth in summer and spring but once it gets cold the fishing is better for bream and black fish.

Nambucca Heads' Main Beach features small beginner waves and several surf schools. If this isn't your first time on a board, head around the southern bluff to Beilby's Beach.
