The NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure – Crown Lands (DPHI-Crown Lands) has advised Reflections Holidays that the Remediation Action Plan for the Urunga Lido has been approved by the EPA, allowing the reopening of the Lido.
The contractor engaged by Crown Lands, ENV Solutions, will undertake weekly observations in the beach area for six months and maintain a register of findings.
The first inspection will occur on Thursday, 2 April, and the fencing will also be removed on the day.
The long-term Remediation Action Plan for the site has been provided to the Department and is now with the EPA for assessment and approval. It is anticipated that this process will take at least six months to finalise. This plan will inform the actions required following the initial six-month inspection period outlined above.
This work comes after the discovery of asbestos fragments in the area in October 2025.
