Reflections Red Rock community updates

31 Aug 2026
5 minutes

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share feedback about Reflections Red Rock. We’ve heard the things that need attention are working with the community and relevant partners to address them. Some are straightforward. Others need further consultation, approvals or funding before they can move ahead.

We’ve created this page so there’s one place to find the latest information. We’ll keep it updated as work progresses and there’s something new to share.

Latest Updates:

(1 September 2026)

  • The swings at the Red Rock playground have been temporarily closed following a safety assessment.
  • Replacement parts have been ordered and are on there way and will be installed as soon as they are received.
  • We appreciate the community’s patience while these works are completed and will provide further updates as they become available.

Keeping you updated

In January 2026, we shared a summary of feedback we heard from the Red Rock community engagement survey directly with survey participants and through Red Rock Matters.

We know there are several newsletters and channels used across Red Rock to keep the community connected. Going forward, we’ll publish our latest updates here so information is easy to find and can be shared through the community’s preferred channels.

We’ve recently welcomed William as the new Park Manager at Reflections Red Rock. Once he has settled into the role, we’ll plan an onsite event where you can meet him in person. We’ll share the date and details here when confirmed. William looks forward to meeting the community and hearing from you.

Little Beach Stairs

Consultation in the replacement of the stairs continues with relevant agencies and partners including Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) and Garby Elders. Concerns have been raised about replacing the stairs due to the cultural heritage of the site. We will continue to engage with key partners including Crown Lands to find a way forward. We don’t have a confirmed timeframe yet, but we’ll update this page when we know more.

Trees

Looking after the natural environment at Red Rock is an important part of what we do. As part of our regular tree inspections, one tree has been identified as needing heavy pruning to ensure safety of community and guests. We hope to have these works completed in September 2026.

We’re also aware that a rope swing continues to be installed in the area. We remove it when found for safety reasons and will continue to monitor the area and respond as needed.

Sewage system

Significant wastewater investigations, feasibility assessments, and system design reviews have been completed. The project is currently in the final stages of design development and approval. While a definitive delivery timeframe has not yet been established, updates will be provided as the program is further defined.

Accessibility - Little Cottage ramp

Unfortunately, the proposed ramp at the Little Cottage could not proceed due to heritage restrictions. We know how important accessibility is and, at this stage, we haven’t identified another suitable solution that meets the heritage requirements of the site. If a suitable option becomes available in the future, we will absolutely consider it.

Fish-cleaning tables and fishing pontoon

After considering community feedback, we’ve decided not to proceed with the proposed upgrade to the fish-cleaning tables. Instead, we’re exploring funding options for upgrades to the fishing pontoon, which was identified as a greater priority. We expect to provide another update within the next six months.

What happens next?

We keep a register of the issues and feedback raised by the community, along with the actions underway, so we can keep track of progress. Some matters require consultation, approvals or funding and will take longer than others. We’ll keep this page updated as things progress and there’s meaningful new information to share.
