Reflections Copeton Waters is more than 3,000 acres and is smack-bang on the shores of Copeton Dam (aka Copeton Lake), near the charming town of Inverell. The secluded park is three times larger than Sydney Harbour, and is a mecca for anyone who loves fishing, as it’s a hotspot for catching a Murray cod.

Camping in Copeton Waters is not only for fishing fanatics, as there are oodles of mountain bike paths, the dam is perfect for boating and kayaking, and it’s a nature lovers’ idea of paradise, ripe for exploring by foot or by 4WD.

The sense of tranquillity at Copeton Waters also makes it a perfect place to simply relax and watch the clouds and birds glide by.

The park is so enormous that when it comes to Copeton Dam camping, you’re guaranteed to have loads of space to spread out your gear and set yourself up in a lovely spot surrounded by nature with views of the dam.

The great news for animal lovers is that Reflections Copeton Waters is dog-friendly, (allowing two dogs per booking) so dogs enjoying a fishing trip in their owner’s boats is a common sight out this way.

There are 78 powered sites surrounded by picturesque native bushland, that are suitable for caravans, motorhomes, campervans, and tents. All campsites are within three kilometres of the park, and there’s a choice of grass or gravel surfaces. The powered campsites are suitable for up to six guests and are ideal for campers who want to plug in their appliances and devices. They can fit rigs of up to 20 metres, and you’ll have plenty of space to bliss out in the serenity, have a game of cricket, or sit around the fire and watch the stars.

If getting back to nature is your thing and you’re a more traditional camper, there are 300 unpowered campsites (bushcamping) scattered across the park, that are perfect for small caravans, camper trailers, tents and swags. All sites can fit up to six people, with two dogs allowed per booking. There are grass or gravel sites, and it doesn’t matter how big your set-up, is, as there’s so much space when camping in Copeton Waters.

Copeton Waters Caravan Park is well-equipped to give you a super comfy stay! The large open-air camp kitchen with views of the surrounding bushland is a great place to have a meal and have a drink and a chin wag with other happy campers. There’s also a laundry and two toilet and shower blocks, so there’s never any queuing.

If you forgot some of those camping essentials or need extra food supplies, the park has a kiosk selling fishing lures, bread, milk, ice-creams, cold drinks, chips, ice, thongs, hats, fishing shirts, fuel (unleaded, premium and diesel), gas cylinders, firewood and even some souvenirs. The fishing gear section includes the Top Attack range, which is best for catching cod.

There is also plenty for the kids, with a playground, school holiday activities, table tennis, tennis courts and a BMX track is sure to keep little speed demons in action.

Fishers will love the coat ramp and the fact that there are fish cleaning facilities, and there’s also on-site fuel, so no need to head to town to top up. There isn’t an ATM at the park, so the nearest place to get cash is in Inverell.

There’s no carp, red claw or yabbies, and the redfin are few and far between. The cooler months are better for fishing because there’s little or no release of water from the dam.
