Orara East State Forest is within a short drive of Coffs Harbour. This forest offers visitors a wide variety of nature-based activities, from rainforest walks to Cultural experiences.
The star of the show is the iconic Forest Sky Pier at Sealy Lookout/Niigi Niigi, taking in 180-degree views of the Coffs Coast, and best of all it's free! The forest and reserve are uniquely beautiful, with a wide variety of interesting flora and fauna. There are parking, toilets, and undercover picnic tables available at the Lookout, as well as a grassed picnic area under gum trees adjacent to the Lookout.
The Giingan Gumbaynggirr Cultural Experience Tours are a great way to learn about the life of the Gumbaynggirr people, the Traditional Owners of the land.
The Gumagli Track is also a unique experience, sharing the story of Gumgali the Black Goanna through sculpture, art, and sound before finishing at Korora Lookout. An 800 metre one-way walk, you can sit in the church pew style seating at the lookout and take in expansive views before walking back.
Coffs Treetops awaits those who want to 'monkey around' in the trees. For those prepared to venture a little further into the forest, the Halfway Point picnic area is a great place to take a break whilst enjoying the rainforest atmosphere and access the network of amazing rainforest walking tracks.
