Blind Tiger

A speakeasy cocktail bar housed within a 300-year-old Japanese temple, where world-class whisky, bespoke cocktails and meaningful connection come together in an intimate, phone-free setting. Blind Tiger is a small, private bar founded in Byron Bay, created for people who value conversation, music, great food, finely made cocktails, and serious spirits and wine collecting, Intimate by design, Blind Tiger is about discretion, atmosphere, and the pleasure of being present. The phrase "Blind Tiger" first appeared in 19th-century America as a clever trick to dodge prohibition laws. Patrons would pay to "see" an animal — say, a tiger - and in return receive a "complimentary" drink. The spirit of rebellion, creativity, and quiet indulgence born from that time drives us still. They've paired that history with their own here in Byron Bay — and especially Belongil. Once a whaling station, it was a place of necessity, not cruelty, born from survival. Now, fifty years on, more than 60,000 whales pass peacefully through the bay each year - a powerful reminder of change, respect, and evolution.
