Byron Bay

Distance from Evans Head: 67.9km on the Pacific Highway (around a 53-minute drive)

Why you should visit: So many reasons! Byron Bay boasts spectacular natural attractions and is also known for its quirky shops and cafes, chilled out atmosphere and alternative lifestyles.

Don’t miss: Kayaking with dolphins, walking the Cape Byron Track and getting bendy with beachside yoga and massage.


Distance from Evans Head: 41.9km on the Pacific Highway (around a 40-minute drive)

Why you should visit: Ballina may be home to the big prawn, but that’s not all it’s got. It’s also known for its gorgeous beaches, fantastic surfing and abundant wildlife.

Don’t miss: Surfing at Lighthouse Beach, going nuts at the Macadamia Castle, and learning about the historic Richmond River along the Ballina Historic Waterfront Trail.


Distance from Evans Head: 67.3km on the Pacific Highway (around a 55-minute drive)

Why you should visit: Yamba is home to fantastic fishing, delectable seafood, beautiful beaches and charming cafes and restaurants.

Don’t miss: Swimming at the Angourie Blue Pool, admiring the view from the grounds of the Yamba Lighthouse, and fishing in the deep with Reel Time Charters.

Lennox Head

Distance from Evans Head: 51.8km on the Pacific Highway (around a 40-minute drive)

Why you should visit: Lennox Head is famous for its surfing and its challenging right-hand point break. It’s also got more quality restaurants and eating outlets than you could poke a fork at.

Don’t miss: The tea-tree scented waters of Lake Ainsworth, the views from the Pat Morton lookout, and the delicious Italian fare at Quattro, once voted ‘most stylish beachfront restaurant’ in Australian Vogue Travel.

Brunswick Heads

Distance from Evans Head: 69.6km on the Pacific Highway (around a 50-minute drive)

Why you should visit: The Brunswick River. Pretty, peaceful and perfect for all types of water sports, the river is a drawcard for paddlers, fisherfolk, snorkelers and swimmers.

Don’t miss: Eat alfresco at the Brunswick River picnic area, enjoy a show at the gorgeously restored Brunswick Picture House, relax in the beer garden at the famous Hotel Brunswick.
