Byron Bay sits at the easternmost point of Australia, around 8–9 hours’ drive north of Sydney, two hours south of Brisbane, or just under an hour from the Gold Coast. Say less! Prefer to fly? The closest airport is Ballina Byron Gateway, a quick 35-minute drive from Byron Bay town. Shuttle buses and car hire from the airport make getting here a breeze.

The Beach Hotel or 'Top Pub' to the locals is the only pub on beachfront overlooking Byron Bay's Main Beach.

The Byron Theatre is part of the Byron Community Centre's not for profit social enterprise model. As a social enterprise, tickets to events in the theatre are worth a lot more than their dollar value.
This means that funds raised from ticket sales go towards a good cause and are used to provide services, projects and events that benefit the local Byron Bay community. So every time you attend an event in our theatre you’re helping us run vibrant and inclusive cultural programs for our local community.

The light that shines by night over Cape Byron Marine Park emanates from a tower as famous as the town of Byron Bay itself.
Built at the turn of the 19th century to protect ships passing along the coast, Cape Byron Lighthouse stands resolute on the most easterly point of the Australian mainland. Operated by resident keepers until 1989, its now automated light is clearly visible from Byron Bay township.

Sunshine, surf and good vibes — that’s Byron Bay weather in a nutshell. Summers average around 27°C, perfect for the beach, while winter days stay mild with lows of 12°C and highs of 20°C. Rain falls year-round, keeping the hinterland lush, but the most popular time to visit is September through May when the skies are the clearest and the water is warm.

Wondering what to do in Byron Bay? Start your day with the famous Cape Byron Walking Track, hit the surf at The Pass or simply laze on the beach and soak up the iconic Byron atmosphere. Be careful though; you might find it hard to leave! Spend the next day exploring world heritage-listed Nightcap National Park, full of gorgeous walks, waterfalls and picnic areas.

For something longer, the Minyon Falls walking track in Nightcap National Park serves up rainforest scenery and — you guessed it — a jaw-dropping waterfall. You can get around Byron Bay without a car if you’re staying in or near town, as many beaches, shops and cafes are walkable or accessible by bike. However, having a car makes it much easier to explore the surrounding beaches, hinterland villages and national parks at your own pace.
