in a month
Next on Nov 08, 2025
In this two-day workshop artist Lesley Ryan will introduce students to the versatile medium of coloured pencil. Over the course of the weekend Lesley will cover materials, set up, the application of design and composition techniques, texture solutions, and fixing mistakes. Participants will learn to mix colours, apply pencils evenly, layer, establish a tonal foundation and keep colours bright, and will complete at least two drawings, leaving with a solid basis for continuing to work in the medium. Workshop participants will receive all materials to complete the exercises, including a pencil case prepared by Lesley to take home after the course, containing a range of specialised pencils including Caron D'Ache, Prismacolour, Polychromous and Brutfuner, an eraser, blending pencil and eraser tape, and one of Lesley's greeting cards. Lesley Ryan is an experienced artist and a qualified art teacher. She has studied and taught painting overseas and tutored private students for many years. She has exhibited internationally, had many solo exhibitions, and over 40 joint exhibitions. Lesley's exhibition "The Meteorologist's Daughter – Watching the Skies" was recently on show at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery. For more information visit the website or contact the Gallery. Ignite Studios is a wheelchair accessible venue. Please contact ahead of time if there are accessibility needs to be aware of.
