Beekeeping Basics - Get ready for Spring!

This free two hour workshop at The Woopi Bee Shed covers the basics of getting started with bees and focuses on spring management and getting ready for summer. Presented by local beekeeper, Glenn Locke of Mt Coramba Apiculture, this workshop is suitable for anyone curious about getting into beekeeping, or those who have already have bees and want learn more. This session will have a particular focus on living with varroa, hive health; requeening; spring flowers; when to harvest; weather impacts; pests and diseases; and maintenance and upgrade tasks to get done before summer. A light afternoon tea will be provided along with an opportunity to taste a variety of local honeys. Warning - While there won't be opening a hive during this session, bees are kept at this premises. If you are allergic to bees please let them know and bring any medication you may require.
