Armands Beach

If swimming and sunbathing in the nude is your preference, Armands Beach is the only clothes optional beach on the Sapphire Coast. It was declared a legally clothes optional by Bega Valley Shire Council in November 1993. From Bermagui, drive south 9.5 kilometres along the Tathra-Bermagui Road to Barragga Bay and turn left into Kullaroo Road. Proceed along the sealed road to the Armands Beach sign and take the walking track to the beach. From Tathra, drive north 38 kilometres along the Tathra-Bermagui Road to Barragga Bay turning right into Kullaroo Road. Armands Beach was named after a man of French origin, Armand Lemmeric, who owned a farm behind Armands Bay and regularly swam nude at the beach. In the 1930s nude cricket matches were held at the beach. Armands Beach is not patrolled and there are no toilets or facilities. Bring all you need and take away all you bring. Clothes option is limited to the extent of the sands of the beach. The Armands Beach Leisure Group hosts seasonal events, please visit their website for more information.
