Forster camping holidays go hand in hand with hiking and bush walking, and with Booti Booti, Wallingat and Myall Lakes National Parks on your doorstep there’s plenty of scenic trails to explore. The Booti Hill and Wallis Lake Trail winds through coastal rainforest, over clifftops and along the shore, with the chance to meet the stars of the show, the local kangaroos and koalas. Or how about a short hike to Cape Hawk Lookout for bird’s eye views of the region? From May to November, mighty humpback whales cruise the coastline on their annual migration from the icy waters of Antarctica to the tropical waters of Harvey Bay. Whales (and dolphins) can be spotted even from the beach, but for close-up encounters with these amazing creatures, known as the acrobats of the sea, head out on a boat. A classic coastal favourite, the Forster Ocean Baths are natural rock pools right at Main Beach that are perfect for a safe and scenic swim. They’re especially lovely for families and anyone who wants a refreshing dip with a view of the ocean’s power without big surf.
A hidden gem just outside Forster is the Green Cathedral, a peaceful, open-air chapel set amongst cabbage tree palms overlooking Wallis Lake. This serene spot is perfect for reflection, special occasions, or simply enjoying a moment surrounded by nature.

Explore nearby Blueys Beach, head out to magnificent Seal Rocks, or take a forest drive in Wallingat National Park.
