Sailurunga's Discover Sailing Adventure is available to people of most abilities and is approximately a three hour sail from Urunga To Mylestom Village and back.
It is an ideal way for you and your family, friends or other small groups including those with some disabilities to experience life on and in their appealing rivers while sailing their beautiful waters.
Sailurunga may be lucky and see dolphins, turtles, and Sea eagles among the myriad of life along the rivers. Sailurunga may even visit the remains of one of the historical “Droghers” that used to ply the rivers 120 years ago.
At Mylestom we can take a break, (yes, there are clean toilets), and enjoy the stunning river and mountain views, while having coffee, tea, hot muffins or the famous hot chips (or other) before heading back to Urunga.
It has a small outboard motor in the event of too much or too little wind to ensure we get home safely and comfortably.
Sailurunga can cater to a group of up to three adults or two adults and up to two children comfortably depending on their ability and size. No pets, please.
In early 2025 they will also be able to offer a 5-metre pontoon boat capable of carrying 5 passengers and will be wheelchair (1) accessible. Please contact them for updates and more details.

Welcome to the Art Space Urunga, your friendly community gallery on the NSW Mid North Coast. Located in the town centre, the gallery is open every day.
With around a dozen exhibitions a year, there is always something new to see. Visitors are encouraged to take their time while enjoying the works on display.
They also offer a gift shop with locally made artisan items, and 'Brush Strokes', a unique outdoor gallery.

The Urunga Boardwalk will be closed from June to December 2025 for major upgrade works. While works are underway, visitors can still enjoy much of what makes Urunga special—from the tranquil foreshore and river views to local cafes, parks, and swimming in the calm waters of the Lido.
The Urunga Boardwalk has to be one of the best boardwalks on the east coast, with spectacular views from the entire length of the boardwalk.
Starting from the charming town of Urunga, the boardwalk passes along the banks of the Kalang River, to the junction with the Bellinger River and out to the ocean, with stunning views inland past Urunga town and up the river valleys to the Great Dividing Range, north across the rivers to Mylestom Spit and south along the beach to Picket Hill and beyond to Nambucca Heads.
There are numerous rest areas with seating, as well as many interpretive signs along the boardwalk pointing out items of interest and telling the history of the area.
The boardwalk leads you to the the leash free pet friendly beach area to the south of the river mouth.

Urunga enjoys a warm, temperate climate with mild winters and sunny, comfortable summers. Rainfall is fairly consistent throughout the year, with around 1,228 mm annually, so the landscapes stay lush even in typically dry months. Average temperatures sit at about 18.6°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities year-round. December and January are the most popular months to visit.

Not sure where to start? Begin with a morning dip in the tranquil waters of the Lido or take a walk along its newly developed boardwalk, where you can watch the abundance of wildlife around you. You might even see dolphins playing in the estuary! Grab breakfast in town, then hire a kayak and let the water drift you along while your worries melt away. In the afternoon, take a short drive to Bellingen’s boutique shops. At the end of the day, wind down at Reflections Urunga, perhaps with a snag in hand!

Yes, for most of the year the weather is great for surfing, swimming or paddling in and around the waters of Urunga. For a decent surf, the most popular spot is Hungry Head, but there’s also other beaches in nearby towns, like Mylestom or Nambucca Heads, you can explore.
Unfortunately the Urunga Boardwalk is undergoing upgrade works and will be closed until December 2025. But don’t panic, there’s still plenty to do and see in this beautiful coastal town.
