Water Tower Museum

Originally built in 1908 as the town's main concrete water reservoir and decommissioned in the late 1950s, this historic landmark has been transformed into a fascinating museum celebrating Gunnedah's rich heritage. Step inside and journey through four floors of history, featuring memorabilia from local families, schools, and major world conflicts. Climb to the rooftop observation deck for panoramic views of Gunnedah and the surrounding countryside—a reward worth the steps! Outside, admire two stunning murals by artist Jenny McCracken, unveiled on ANZAC Day 2019, depicting the Battle of Long Tan. The Water Tower Museum is proudly listed on the Australian Silo Art Trail and located in Anzac Park, South Street, Gunnedah. Coach groups are welcome, and town history or family research is available for a nominal fee. Please note: The museum is not currently wheelchair accessible.
