Set within the eastern portion of Chichester State Forest, the Telegherry River provides some beautiful spots for visitors to enjoy the lush forest and surrounds.
Telegherry Forest Rest Area is a popular spot with regular visitors, containing separate picnic and camping areas beside the river, with short walking tracks leading into the surrounding forest.
Frying Pan Creek is another picturesque camping and picnic area on the banks of the Telegherry. A two-kilometre return walking track to Problem Creek Falls starts from this site, maintained with the help of the volunteer group "Friends of Chichester".
On the opposite bank to Frying Pan Creek is the Coachwood camping area. This spot is great for family groups and those wishing to enjoy river-based activities.
Currawong camping area is a particularly quiet camping spot away from the larger visitor areas and offers easy access to the Telegherry River for paddling or lilo-ing. Please note that Currawong can only be accessed by four-wheel drive due to a river crossing that quickly varies in depth after rainfall.
Chichester State Forest on the Telegherry River is a fantastic spot to escape the summer heat or to cosy up around the campfire at night.
