Chichester State Forest - Allyn River

Located in the foothills of the State Forests of the Barrington Tops, Chichester State Forest on the Allyn River offers some stunning forest locations to visit or stay. From free camping with your dog, to a day trip - visitors can swim, walk, relax or drive. Ladies Well is perfect for a dip in warmer weather, while Pademelon features large, secluded campsites divided by trees - great for large groups. White Rock camping area is further upstream - a large and flat area with toilets, this walk-in camping area is a delightful spot to relax or paddle in the crystal clear waters of the Allyn River. Peach Tree is a small picnic spot on the opposite bank of the Allyn river. Here you'll find the start of the beautiful Allyn River Rainforest Walking Track, a short looped walking track (20 minutes) through rainforest. Take in majestic trees, huge buttress roots, hanging vines and mossy rocks whilst catching glimpses of the river. Take off your shoes and cool your feet in the waters of the Allyn before following this walk back to it's start at Peach tree carpark. Enjoy the beautiful rolling hills of Dungog or Gresford on your drive to and from the forest. Visitors please note: mobile phone reception is limited in the Allyn River area.
