Koorawatha Falls

Located just 40 minutes from Young, visit the Koorawatha Nature Reserve, home to the famous Koorawatha Falls and Weir. The weir was built across the Bang Bang Creek in 1913 to supply water to the railway. The name Koorawatha is a Wiradjuri word meaning 'A place of pine trees'. Continue past the Weir to find the picturesque Koorawatha Falls, located about 7 kilometres from the Olympic Highway. The Falls are only accessible with extreme care in a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The best time to visit to experience the Falls at their best would be after rainfall. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the rushing of water as you sit by the water's edge or walk back to the 4 wheel drive area where there are barbeques and picnic tables to take it all in.
