Camping at Burrinjuck Waters: a unique lakeside retreat

If your idea of the perfect getaway is a peaceful retreat where the rest of the world seems a million miles away, camping at Burrinjuck Waters in scenic southern NSW is an experience you’ll want to add to the bucket list.

Picture pulling up on the side of a secluded lake with views of undulating hills and mountains, that's less than two hours’ drive from Canberra and less than an hour from Yass.

Spread across 74 hectares, Reflections Burrinjuck offers nature-loving campers a hard-to-beat blend of activities on and around the water such as fishing, boating and kayaking, and the park is a haven for native wildlife including a huge array of birds.

Meet parrots, kangaroos, possums and echidnas while you go bushwalking, or hike a section of the famous 426 kilometre-long Hume & Hovell trail from Yass to Albury.

Or if your idea of relaxing is not doing much at all, then kick back on the lake’s foreshore and take in the abundance of serene natural beauty sprawling in every direction.

Accommodation options at Reflections Burrinjuck Waters

The huge array of nature and wildlife is what makes Burrinjuck dam camping so special, and this does mean that no dogs are allowed.

The park is home to 35 spacious, powered grass sites on compact earth that can accommodate six guests (up to four adults), giving campers a picture-perfect slice of serene paradise. The powered spots are suitable for set-ups of up to ten metres, so they’re great for camper trailers, caravans, campervans and tents, and all have sullage and grey water.

If you’re ready to unwind in nature further away from the park’s centre, there are 100 unpowered campsites scattered around the lake, with many close to the water. These sites can accommodate six guests (also up to four adults), and can fit set-ups of up to seven metres, making them ideal for tents, swags, camper trailers, campervans, motorhomes or caravans.

All sites have easy access to the park’s great facilities including amenity blocks, airy camp kitchens, laundries, playgrounds for the kiddos, undercover barbecue areas and so much more. There’s also a fully stocked shop for some camping essentials, treats such as ice creams and chips, and a huge array of standard food staples needed to whip up a quick and easy meal.

Facilities and amenities when camping at Lake Burrinjuck

For its size, Reflections Burrinjuck Waters has an impressive number of facilities, including eight amenity blocks, four laundries with clotheslines, and two large playgrounds.
