Eight luxe star-gazing tents with outdoor baths for guests to soak up the night panorama will soon open at Reflections Lake Keepit in a $4 million precinct that shines a light on North-West New South Wales’ biggest untapped advantage: clear, star-studded skies and untamed natural beauty.
Reflections, a Crown land manager and the largest holiday park group in New South Wales, was able to plan the significant regional tourism precinct at its Lake Keepit park, located between Tamworth and Gunnedah in Big Sky Country, thanks to a grant from the NSW Government and Crown Lands support via the Crown Reserve Improvement Fund.
More than two years in the making and opening at Easter, the new Lake Keepit glamping precinct – Wilderluxe Lake Keepit - is the first destination in Reflections Holidays new Wilderluxe offering, which provides premium experiences in some of Reflections inland and coastal parks in NSW. Further destinations to open over the next two years include Lennox Head, Eden, Brunswick Heads and Lake Glenbawn.
The new tourist glamping precinct, Wilderluxe Lake Keepit, will include a signature ‘Big Sky Dreaming’ dinner and immersive Aboriginal meets western astronomy night-sky narration, curated by local Aboriginal legend, Uncle Len Waters.
Reflections CEO Nick Baker said the Wilderluxe portfolio was created to meet growing traveller demand for outdoor escapes that blended adventure with indulgence and would boost tourism in both coastal and country NSW.
“Wilderluxe represents a transformative step for Reflections Holidays as we respond to the evolving preferences of today’s travellers. Our core camping business has never been stronger, offering accommodation to suit all budgets in our holiday parks, but we’ve identified a growing market seeking elevated, luxurious ways to experience Australia’s unique, off-the-beaten-track, bush to beach destinations,” Mr Baker said.
The Hon. Steve Kamper MP, Minister for Lands and Tourism, said the NSW Government investment was a shot in the arm for the regional economies of Tamworth and Gunnedah.
“This investment in regional tourism will benefit the region's economy through increased spending on accommodation, food, transportation and leisure activities. That means more local supporting jobs in tourism, hospitality, retail and service industries,” Mr Kamper said.
Destination Country and Outback NSW Chair Andrea Plawutsky said Lake Keepit is a favourite destination for locals and tourists who love to take in the scenic views, swim or fish, and the project now offers even more appeal with night and cultural tourism.
“Importantly, Reflections Lake Keepit will still offer affordable accommodation to families and have accommodation to suit every budget, but it will now also offer premium accommodation that will be attractive to both the international and local traveller,” Ms Plawutsky said.
Wilderluxe Lake Keepit has been designed as an intimate experience for guests, with a small footprint infrastructure. Eight “Star Tents” and a private guest lounge are perched above the lake, cushioned by the surrounding countryside and the Great Dividing Range, offering a majestic panorama.
The Star Tents are fully insulated for year-round comfort and designed with star-gazing roofs, each opening onto private decks with an outdoor bathtub, allowing visitors to soak while marvelling at the canopy of stars overhead.
