Take a rain check

Sometimes plans change, and that’s exactly why Rain Check exists.

Rain Check is an exclusive loyalty benefit for Reflections Holidays Explorer and Trailblazer Members, designed to give you extra peace of mind when life throws a curveball. From 1 January 2026, eligible members can cancel a booking even during a non-cancellation period (including mid-stay) and receive a credit back for the unused portion of their stay. It’s a simple way to keep your holiday dollars safe if you need to change course.

What is Rain Check?

Rain Check is a loyalty feature that lets Explorer and Trailblazer Members cancel a booking during times where cancellations normally aren’t allowed, and still receive credit for the unused part of the stay.

That credit is called Rain Check Credit, and it’s issued to your member account after your cancelled stay would have ended.

How many Rain Checks do I get per year?

Rain Check is available only to Explorer and Trailblazer tiers, and each tier has a set number of uses per calendar year:

  • Explorer Members: 1 Rain Check per calendar year
  • Trailblazer Members: 3 Rain Checks per calendar year

These limits reset every year on 1 January.

How to use Rain Check

Using Rain Check is easy:

  1. Make sure you’re an Explorer or Trailblazer Member.
  2. Request Rain Check when cancelling by phone, even if you’re inside a non-cancellation period or already staying.
  3. Your booking is cancelled, and the unused paid portion is calculated.
  4. Rain Check Credit is added to your account after departure, ready for your next trip.

A quick note: using Rain Check means you forfeit first rights to rebook the same site or period for the following year. It’s intended for genuine changes of plans, not holding accommodation.

What is Rain Check Credit?

Rain Check Credit is the value of any paid, unused portion of your booking. A few important things to know:

  • It matches what you’ve paid and didn’t use.
  • It can’t exceed what you already paid, and it isn’t refundable as cash.
  • It’s valid for 3 months from the date of issue.
  • You must book to arrive within that 3-month window.
  • Credit is added after departure and can’t be used on the same stay it was earned from.

When can Rain Check Credit be earned and used?

Rain Check Credit is available for direct bookings only on eligible accommodation.

It can’t be earned or redeemed on:

  • Online Travel Agent bookings
  • Employee discounts
  • Non-eligible accommodation
  • Long-term casual or permanent stays

So, to use Rain Check, always book direct with Reflections Holidays.

Fair use and limitations

Rain Check is a generous benefit, but it’s designed for genuine holiday changes, not placeholder bookings. Reflections Holidays may decline to honour Rain Check if there’s reason to believe bookings were made purely to “hold” accommodation. This is at Reflections’ discretion.

What Rain Check looks like in real life

Here are a few simple examples of how it works:

  • Scenario 1: Cancelling right before arrival
Glen books a week for $1,000 and pays a $100 deposit. The day before arrival, he Rain Checks. His booking is cancelled and he gets $100 Rain Check Credit, valid for three months. No further payment is needed.
  • Scenario 2: Cancelling mid-stay
Mary books seven nights for $700, pays in full, stays four nights, then Rain Checks. The unused three nights ($300 value) are credited back to her account, valid for three months.
  • Scenario 3: Cancelling well before arrival
Harry books seven nights for $700 and pays in full. Twenty days before arrival (inside a non-cancellation window), he Rain Checks. His booking is cancelled and he receives $700 Rain Check Credit, valid for three months.
