One of the reasons people love staying at Reflections Hungry Head is because of its seclusion and bushland setting. Tucked away in rare littoral rainforest, just a short stroll from Hungry Head beach, this sanctuary of 10 rustic cabins is the perfect place to get away from it all, spend time in nature and do the things that make you happy. But of course, all that fun is going to make you hungry and if you’re staying at these lovely off-the-beaten-track cabins, you may be wondering about the options for a bite to eat. Never fear! Here are our top tips to handle being hungry while at Hungry Head.
DIY
Don’t want to leave Hungry Head? We can’t really blame you, so if you’re looking for some DIY food options, it’s easy to pick up groceries at Urunga. For a big shop, Nambucca Heads is just 20 minutes away and has a range of supermarkets to choose from. The Hungry Head cabins have fully equipped kitchens and there’s a free BBQ for those nights you feel like cooking alfresco.
The clubs
Jump in the car and drive four minutes down the road to Urunga. Here you can enjoy the budget-friendly dining at local clubs such as Club Urunga. Feast on Chinese and modern Australian cuisine at their East Garden Restaurant, grab a sandwich or coffee at the Club Café and enjoy their open-air dining options.
The cafes
As the old saying goes, life begins after coffee. OK, it’s probably not that old a saying, but there’s no need to skip your coffee fix when staying at Reflections Holiday Parks Hungry Head. Head to Urunga for a cup of java and a muffin at cafes including Pomegranate, the Boardwalk Café and Anchor’s Wharf Café.
The restaurants
Keen to let someone else do the washing up? Embers Woodfired Restaurant in Urunga is renowned for its woodfired pizzas, amazing sorbet and friendly service. Visit the Anchor’s Wharf Café for its steak and seafood, or head to the Urunga Seafood and Takeaway for good old burgers and fish and chips.
Market munchies
The Urunga Riverside Markets are held on the second Sunday of each month and they’re a fantastic place to sample traditional and gourmet foodie delights. Devour treats as you wander amongst the stalls, or purchase locally produced food and veg to take back to your cabin.
You’ll never go hungry when you stay at Hungry Head. You’ll feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, yet the conveniences of Urunga are just a short drive away. Book your stay at Reflections Hungry Head and enjoy the best of both worlds.
