Mudgee

Culinary passion runs deep in Mudgee and it’s easy to see why with the abundance of local produce and wineries in the region. Here are our favourite picks!

Pipeclay Pumphouse

It could be said that Pipeclay Pumphouse is the most talked about dining experience in the Mudgee region. The fine dining experience located at Robert Stein Winery has a constantly changing menu of home grown and locally sourced produce. We seriously can’t say no to the Ash Crusted Beef Fillet and the garden potatoes with truffled salt – yum.

Lowe Wine

This organic and biodynamic winery is a family owned and operated winery. Located on Tinja Lane, the historic property is just 7km from the Mudgee CBD and specialises in small batch winemaking.

Each vintage produced at the winery is different to the next and the ongoing commitment to the biodynamic style of wine making ensures that the quality of the wine will continue long into the future. Try the award winning Zinfandel, one of the best red wines from the region and also making Lowe Wines one of the best wineries in NSW.

The cellar door is open 10 am to 4.30pm daily and you can order an accompanying cheese platter with the freshest sourdough daily to satisfy your cravings.

Market Street Café

A weekend away is never complete without a good brunch, so head to Market Street Café in town for fluffy pancakes and the best eggs benedict around. This may not be a winery or a fine dining restaurant, but this café does local food at its best. Make sure you get caffeinated on an Allpress espresso and fuel up before heading home or to your next location.

Yass

The Yass Valley is bursting with a sense of community, amazing nature scenery and the idyllic country lifestyle. The region is full of amazing food and wine experiences and is located 3 hours from Sydney and a close 45 minutes from Canberra. These two hotspots shouldn’t bs missed -

Clementine Restaurant

This European style bistro serving lunch and dinner is regional dining at its best and it has delivered brilliance to the food scene in Yass. Clementine Restaurant is set in a 1950’s weatherboard cottage with scenic views and they have a wonderful list of well selected local wines to pair with your choice of food.

Handmade duck agnolotti comes highly recommended but don’t forget to start with the fresh bread that is baked in house each day.

Long Rail Gully Wines

Just up the road in Murrumbateman Long Rail Gully wines is a family run winery with a cellar door open on Saturday and Sunday’s. The 60-acre vineyard in the cool climate makes an amazing Riesling and Shiraz and is the perfect stop off point on your inland journey.

Take a stroll around the acreage and you’ll see the families dog and British blue cat scaling the vines as she helps harvest the perfect picks for the next vintage.
