Bermagui attracts holidaymakers from around the country in summer to enjoy the area's pristine beaches and thriving cultural scene. December’s weather is still fairly mild, so if you want to avoid the peak of summer's heat, Bermagui is a great spot to enjoy your break.

As the Bermagui weather average starts to cool off, and crowds thin out, autumn is the perfect time to explore the Sapphire Coast. April is great month to visit and take advantage of the many local walks and hikes, like the Camel Rock to Murunna Point track or Mimosa Rocks walking track, to get out and see more of the area on foot.

The bright, sunny days are offset by much cooler nights. This is ideal weather for hiking, particularly the more difficult trails scattered around local national parks. The coldest of the year is July (highs around 16℃ and lows of 8℃), so bring layers for when you're out and about.

What is the warmest month in Bermagui?

The warmest time in Bermagui is in late summer, early in the year. Typically, February is the hottest month with the average daily temperature around 24°C (dropping to 17°C overnight). January is a close second with March starting to cool off as the season shifts into autumn.


What is the water temperature in Bermagui?

The Pacific Ocean water temperature on the Sapphire Coast changes month to month. In the summer months it can hover around 20 to 23°C, while in the cooler winter months it drops to an average of 17°C.


What is a comfortable water temperature for swimming?

For open water, around 22-25°C is ideal, but this varies person to person and depends on the activity.
