You’ll find Bermagui tucked along the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales, around 5 hours south of Sydney and 3.5 hours from Canberra. Not driving? You can hop on regional buses, the V line/Sapphire Coast Link, or fly into Moruya or Merimbula airports and make the easy drive down.

Bermagui serves up pleasant coastal weather for most of the year. Summers average 23–24°C, perfect for ocean swims and hours in the sunshine (just don't forget to slip, slop, slap!). Winters are short and cool, with highs around 16–17°C — ideal for crisp walks, cosy café feeds, and spotting whales from the headlands. Rain sprinkles throughout the year, keeping the bushland lush and the waterways sparkling. The most popular time to visit? December through April, when the days are long and the water’s at its warmest.

Is Bermagui to Wallaga coastal walk dog friendly?

Yes, your pup is welcome to join you on the Bermagui Coastal Walk. Keep your dog on leash for the most part, but there are some beaches where they can run off leash. In general Bermagui is a fairly dog friendly destination, but it can’t hurt to call ahead and ask if you’re not sure. What time is Bermagui market on Sunday?

The Bermagui Growers and Makers Market is held every Thursday afternoon, not Sunday. It’s where you can browse stalls, grab a bite to eat and find a souvenir to take home from your trip. You can check it out on the old bowling green at Bermagui Country Club.

Can you see whales from Bermagui?

Yes, Bermagui is a brilliant place to catch the migrating whales as they travel on their journey. The best time of year to see the blue whales is from mid-May to early July, while the humpbacks are passing through from September to November. Can you swim in the Bermagui River?

Yes, you can swim at various points along the Bermagui River. However, it’s also a great place to fish, kayak and paddleboard. If you fancy yourself a spot of bird watching, an early morning adventure might put you right by herons, sea eagles and kingfishers as they start their day!

Is Bermagui Blue pool dog friendly?

No, you can’t bring your dog to the Bermagui Blue Pool. But there are a few other dog friendly beaches that welcome four legged friends, like Beares Beach and Moorhead Beach.
