Things to do at Lake Glenbawn
If you’re after a spot that’s got it all plus tons to do, you’ve found it. From water-skiing on glassy lake waters to hiking rugged trails, fishing for iconic Aussie bass, or even heading out for a wine-tasting adventure, this is the ultimate getaway. Just 15 minutes from Scone, the horse capital of Australia, and an hour from the Hunter Valley, this dog-friendly park is a slice of paradise with rolling hills, crystal-clear water, abundant wildlife, and some of the best freshwater fishing around.
Take in the stunning views as you explore the landscape, check out the impressive dam wall, or hit the lake for some water-skiing action. If relaxing is more your style, grab a spot on the hillside or right by the water’s edge and let the serenity do its thing.
There are so many great areas to explore around the lake, take an easy stroll along the waterfront through natural bushland, where kangaroos and all kinds of birds call home, like wrens, colourful parrots, and even wedge-tailed eagles, or for a bit more of a challenge, tackle a few hill climbs. Perfect for soaking up the stunning views of the crystal-clear lake.
Grab the boat and drop in a line or fish from shore, with plenty of chances to reel in a variety of species. The freshwater lake is home to Golden Perch, Rainbow Trout, Silver Perch, Murray Cod, Catfish and the only inland park to have Bass.
The wine regions near Lake Glenbawn, just a short trip from Scone, are well worth a visit. This area is known for its laid-back vibe and top-notch wines, with Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Semillon among the highlights. You can park anywhere within the park. Please respect our overnight campers and cabin stay parkings.
Cars with boat trailers can be parked to the side of the boat ramps
Yes, you can use all park facilities. There are no codes on the amenity blocks at Lake Glenbawn.
You can bring up to 2 dogs per booking on a day pass - please keep your dogs on a leash at all times. Please abide by our Reflections dog policy whilst at the park.
The price is $15 per car/ motorbike if booked online or $17.50 per car/motorbike if purchased at the park. Buses and minibuses may be subject to additional fees.
Yes, you can bring a boat or jetski and us our boat ramp to launch it. Please wear life jackets.

There are 2 boat ramps, maps are available from the office between 9am and 5pm, 7 days week, online here and also in a holder outside the office
The Lake Glenbawn Kiosk is open for hot food Fri/Sat/Sun 9am to 5pm outside school holidays. Guests can purchase anything else 9am to 5pm seven days week through the park reception.
The kiosk sells ice, ice creams, cold drinks, hot food, bait, fishing lures/ shirts, confectionary, small grocery line, coffee and milk shakes.
The pool is open in spring, summer and autumn (closed for winter) from 8am to 9pm daily.
Small fires are permitted as long as there is no total fire ban in place.
Please use the code at the boomgate supplied at the time of purchase. Day visiotrs must leave the park by 10pm. Bookings are required for overnight stays.
