Shaws Bay was formed when the northern wall of the Richmond River was constructed near the river entrance, creating a beautiful tidal bay in eastern Ballina, it's a peaceful recess from the nearby beach and river, featuring disabled parking bays and gently sloping beaches.
Take a stroll along the foreshore walk, which offers stunning views of the water and surrounding scenery, or rent canoes and paddle around the calm waters of the bay and down the nearby river. The calm waters also make a perfect swimming spot, not too deep and with sandy ground. It's also an excellent way to practice your snorkelling and canoeing before heading out into the rivers and beaches.
There is a large grassy area surrounding the bay, which makes for an enjoyable recreation area perfect for picnics and outdoor activities. There are also several BBQ facilities, public toilets, and a playground for children.
