Camping with your dog is one of those simple joys, morning walks, beach swims, and a mate who’s always up for the next adventure. But a good dog holiday starts before you leave home. Pack the right stuff and you’ll spend less time fussing and more time relaxing.

Here’s a no-stress checklist of what to bring.

Basics

  • Food for the whole trip (plus a bit extra, just in case)
  • Treats for training, rewards and bribery
  • Fresh water for travel days and at camp
  • Food and water bowls (collapsible ones are great)

Leads + control

  • Everyday leash
  • Harness or collar
  • Long lead or tie-out for the campsite, so they can roam safely with you
  • Spare lead if you’ve got one

Comfort + settling in

  • Their usual bed or mat
  • A favourite blanket or toy that smells like home
  • A couple of extra toys/chews for downtime

Health + safety

  • Any regular medication
  • Tick/flea/worm prevention (especially for longer trips or bushy areas)
  • Small dog first-aid kit (bandage, antiseptic wipes, tweezers, etc.)
  • Copies/photos of vaccination details if you need them

Clean-up + mess

  • Poop bags (always more than you think you’ll need)
  • Old towels (for beach dogs, muddy paws, or rainy days)
  • Dog shampoo if your park has a dog wash
  • A brush or comb for sandy coats

ID + just-in-case

  • Collar with readable ID tag
  • Microchip details checked and up to date before you go
  • A recent photo of your dog on your phone (handy if they ever wander)

That’s it. Nothing fancy, just the essentials plus a few comforts that help your doggo have an awesome holiday and get settled in a new place.
