Hot air ballooning in the Hunter Valley, NSW

Take in the best of the Hunter Valley wine region with a sunrise flight over the vineyard region. Just 2 hours north of Sydney, it is the ideal location for a weekend getaway or short stay. With over 120 cellar doors in the region, vines roll for as far as the eye can see and the rising sun over the hills captures the best of nature.

Once your flight is finished, take advantage of the Hunter Valley Wine Country. The region is known for some of the most outstanding food and wine in the country.

Jump in the car and head to Muswellbrook towards the Hunter Belle Cheese Café where you can find some of the best cheese and dairy products in the state.

After hot air ballooning in the Hunter Valley, rest up at Reflections Lake Glenbawn in the upper Hunter. Relax in a cabin, pitch a tent or get outdoors with bushwalking, water-skiing or fishing.

The Mudgee Region offers charm and sophisticated food, wine and heritage year-round and boasts a beautiful landscape for the ultimate hot air ballooning experience. Mudgee’s Balloon Aloft operates the flight every Saturday morning followed by a champagne breakfast.

While you’re in town check out Roth’s, the oldest wine bar in New South Wales and browse the boutiques and local traders.

For the hot air balloon enthusiasts, consider planning at trip to the region in May for the Mudgee Hot Air Balloon festival where the balloons light up the night in a music display.

Not too far away is Canowindra, between Orange and Cowra on the Belubula River, is also a great spot for hot air ballooning.
