Day 1: Get out on the water

The far north coast of NSW offers beach after beach to discover. Start your day at Seven Mile Beach, a favourite for sunrise walks, fishing and beginner-friendly surf on calmer days. For more experienced surfers, Boulder Beach offers a consistent right-hand break. Then head up to Pat Morton Lookout for sweeping views over Lennox Point and the coastline.

After lunch, if you’ve had your fill of the Pacific Ocean and are wondering what to do in Lennox Head next, head over to Lake Ainsworth. There, you can do stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking on its calm, tea-tree-stained waters. Unroll the picnic rug and enjoy a bite to eat between swims, which you can do almost year-round due to the region's mild weather.

Day 2: Walks, lookouts and waterfalls

The Northern Rivers is home to dozens of incredible walks and hikes. You could start exploring by heading north to the Three Sisters Walk. This short 1.6km has enviable ocean views and opportunities to birdwatch. Or if waterfalls are on your list, a short road trip to Minyon Falls lookout is a must.

When it's time for lunch, head back into town to try one of the many eateries on Ballina Street. There are delicious options to choose from, like The Point Cafe or Kopi Lennox, so grab takeaway and head down to the stroller-friendly Lennox Head Boardwalk to enjoy your meal.

Day 3: A foodie's paradise

Start your final day in Lennox Head with a strong latte and Brekkie at Shelter Lennox. This beloved local cafe is known for its seasonal menus and ethically sourced produce, plus it treats you to front row seats of Seven Mile Beach.

If you find yourself craving a road trip and it happens to be from Thursday to Sunday, pop by Seven Mile Brewery to try their locally made beers. They're right next to Ballina, a great spot to stretch your legs and see more of the NSW coastline.

As night falls, book a table at Baraka to sample the best of refined Northern Rivers cuisine. Then finish your trip off with a nightcap at either Mr Tipsy's or The Lennox Hotel, with the ocean as your soundtrack.
